Our work is powered by people like you—through donors and sponsors, partners, and the dedication of volunteers and river stewards.

White Sturgeon are the canary in the coal mine for the Fraser River. As one of the oldest living species on Earth, they reflect the health of the entire watershed. When sturgeon are in trouble, it’s a warning sign: the river—and everything that depends on it—is at risk. From salmon to eagles to people, all life in the Fraser River relies on a healthy, thriving ecosystem. Protecting sturgeon means protecting the future of the river, and everything and everyone connected to it.
Discover Your Role in Sturgeon Conservation
The Fraser River Sturgeon Conservation Society is an independent, federally recognized charitable organization and registered BC Society that conducts rigorous, unbiased, science-based research to monitor and protect this majestic species.
With support from provincial, federal, and aboriginal governments, plus non-government institutions, associations, and foundations, we’ve built one of the most effective monitoring and assessment programs in Canada. But there is still so much more to understand and protect.
Your involvement can help us expand into critical areas of the Fraser River, deepen our understanding of White Sturgeon behavior and habitat, and help inspire sustainable river management practices. Together, we can ensure that future generations will witness the awe-inspiring presence of this iconic species in the wild.
The future of Fraser River White Sturgeon is in our hands.
